Glenridding is the next lovely village and great place on the sightseeing tour of the Lake District!
Americans are always surprised to hear about its connection with both sides of the American civil war! The connection been that the Greenside mine, above the village, supplied the lead that was made into bullets for both sides!!!
At the North tip of Ullswater is the wonderful village of Pooley Bridge.
In Roman times the hill that towers over the village was the Roman governors "Hill Of Fear". From here he would have governed the Roman City of Ullswater. You can still walk up the ramparts and battlements and find Roman pottery and tiles on the ground!
So as we gently drive along Ullswater, along the sightseeing tour of the Lake District. The fells get bigger and the views more epic now with every mile!
