Further around, passing the wonderful shores of Rydal Water, we drive past and look into Dove Cottage. Home of Williams Wordsworth and visited by many celebrities of that age.
As we drive into Grasmere itself, we stop at the old school house, next to St Oswalds church. Here you can visit William Wordworths grave, which is one of the most visited shrines in the world.
We also take an opportunity to visit Sarah Nelsons world famous ginger bread shop and you can purchase and taste some of this lovely ginger bread.
Over looking Grasmere is the famous fell Helm Crag. The only one of the 214 fells that the great guide Alfred Wainwright didn't manage to summit. Also famous of course, for it's rock feature known as the Lion And The Lamb. Which is best seen from the road as we move on now and climb up to Dunmail Raise.
